There’s been a delay with the newest Tesla Model S, and no one’s entirely sure what’s going on. And that’s not the only thing happening with Tesla. Yet news coming from the electric vehicle giant isn’t exactly forthcoming. That’s causing concern amongst those waiting for delivery of their Tesla Model S

What’s going on with the Tesla Model S?

Tesla Model S owners are wondering where their forthcoming EVs are coming. They aren’t getting the answers that they’re seeking. It wasn’t until Electrek published a story about Tesla’s lack of communication regarding the Model S delays that Tesla updated those waiting for delivery of their Model S. While their communication detailed the fact that there would be further delays on the Model S, they didn’t have more information about what was causing the delays.

Electrek also reports that Tesla has been prioritizing orders from customers who paid $10,000 more after their most recent price increase. These suspicions arose after customers waiting for Model S’ were told that they could get their EV sooner if they paid the increased price.

What exactly does the letter to Tesla customers say?

The letter from Tesla gives its customers some information about their delay, but probably not everything they’re looking for.

Hi,

We are contacting you regarding the timing of your Model S delivery, as we recently updated your Tesla Account to reflect the most accurate estimate. You may see a delay with regards to your delivery timeline.

We understand this may be disappointing and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please continue to check your Tesla Account for any changes to your timing, which should remain updated to represent our best estimate.

Thank you for your ongoing patience, and we look forward to delivering your Model S as soon as possible.

Best Regards,

The Tesla Team

This isn’t the only delay

In addition to the Model S delay, the long-awaited Cybertruck is also experiencing delays. People had been expecting the Cybertruck to be released by the end of 2021. It now looks like it won’t come out until early 2022. At first it seemed Tesla didn’t want to share the news that the Cybertruck was going to be delayed. They tried to push out the date of the Cybertruck’s release and only recently admitted that the Cybertruck wasn’t going to be released until 2022.

Tesla isn’t always great about communicating with its customers, let alone the general public. It may be some time before we get answers about what’s going on. Without a public relations department, people will likely have to rely on Elon Musk’s tweets and emails sent to customers for information. Still, with the delays in the Model S and also the Cybertruck, it does seem that something’s up. Hopefully whatever’s going on with Tesla will be resolved quickly so that everyone waiting for their vehicles can get them quickly.
