The GMC Denali SUV has been in production for quite a while now. Despite some criticism, it’s a relatively well-received full-size SUV. However, like most celebrated vehicles, there are models of the Denali SUV that used vehicle buyers should avoid. Luckily, the list of bad models of this GMC SUV is pretty short in comparison to many of its closest rivals.

Here are 3 of the worst GMC Yukon Denali models.

The 2015 GMC Yukon Denali

Regarding used GMC Yukon Denali models, the 2015 SUV is considered one of the worst. The biggest reported problem surrounding this model Denali SUV is that it has issues starting due to the anti-theft system failing. This is a huge problem as it could strike anytime and cause owners to be stranded. Reportedly, the fix is to replace the ignition switch, which isn’t expensive.

The engine misfiring is another reported issue regarding this GMC SUV. In this situation, the misfires are caused by fuel injectors sticking in the closed position. Reportedly, this is a result of certain fuel additives and not necessarily a fault on the part of the vehicle. Most situations call for the impacted injector to be replaced.

There is also a problem with the throttle position sensor in this used GMC Yukon Denali model. With this, the vehicle may experience reduced power. In addition, it causes the check engine light to come on. Like with the other issues, the system may need to be replaced to fix it.

The 2007 models also have issues

The most complained about issue regarding the 2007 GMC Yukon Denali is that the upper dashboard tends to crack. According to RepairPal, this mainly impacts people who live in warm climates. Another major used 2007 GMC Yukon Denali problem is that the power door actuators could fail. This failure causes the power locks to work slowly or go out altogether.

In addition to the power door locks on the GMC Denali SUV going out, the door handles also tend to break. The door handle breaking is true for the inside and outside. Of course, the only fix would be to replace them. Fortunately, this would probably be fixed already in most used models.

The 2001 model is a used GMC Yukon Denali with problems

The 2001 GMC Yukon Denali has many of the same problems as the other less-than-great models. However, one of the big ones unique to it is that the intake manifold gasket may leak oil or coolant. This could also cause coolant and engine oil to mix, which is never a good thing as it could cause engine damage. An owner would need to replace the gasket to fix this problem.

There are also problems with this GMC Denali SUV’s speedometer. For some unknown reason, it starts to work erratically. The erratic speedometer is a significant issue, as drivers must know their road speeds to be safe. Most of the other 2001 GMC Denali problems are more inconvenient and have less to do with mechanics.

The GMC Denali SUV is mainly considered a pretty good vehicle. People love it and use it as a valued family vehicle. However, buyers should avoid these used GMC Yukon Denali models.
