If you want a brand new Ford F-150 this year, then you better hurry. The 2022 Ford F-150 is starting to sell out, meaning you might have to wait for a 2023 model. Some options are already gone, so here’s what’s left.

Unfortunately, we aren’t out of the woods yet. The ongoing semiconductor chip shortage is still limiting vehicle inventories, and the production of the 2022 Ford F-150 is doing its best to keep up with high demand.

After May 13, 2022, the only way to get a Ford F-150 model is to submit an order through dealerships. This means that whatever dealers have in stock is your best option until the ordering books for the 2023 model open on July 18.

Ford shared that the F-150 continues to experience high customer demand, and the order rate has increased daily over the past few months.

As a result, the hybrid, gas-powered, and electric models are sold out for the year. However, orders for diesel models and the Ford F-150 Raptor can be submitted through dealerships until the ordering software shuts down on May 19.

2023 Ford F-150: What’s new?

If you don’t want to hustle to get your 2022 Ford F-150 model, you can wait a few extra months for the 2023 Ford F-150. According to AutoBlog, people have been waiting about five months for their 2022 orders.

The wait for the 2023 Ford F-150 could be shorter or longer depending on the computer chip shortage and other supply chain issues. Models are still facing chip holds, and plant holds, but shutting down 2022 orders could help Ford get back on track.

The 2023 model is part of the 14th generation introduced for 2021. It’s still pretty new and doesn’t need fresh looks or tech updates yet. This means that it’s primarily a carryover model with the same engine options.

However, the F-150 Rattler is joining the lineup. The Rattler trim severs as an affordable off-roading trim that’s based on the entry-level model.

The Ford F-150 Rattler comes with standard 4×4, off-road shock absorbers, all-terrain tires, unique skid plates, an electronic rear-locking differential, and hill descent control. It’s expected to start at around $40,000.
