Car theft is a significant problem worldwide. Sadly, this happened recently in Georgia, and the suspect then tried to evade a traffic stop. Luckily, the police officers on the scene caught up to him, and now he’s facing some pretty serious charges. The positive part of this story is that he didn’t cause any car wrecks during the high-speed police chase.

Commiting car theft and evading a traffic stop are two of the worst things a person can do

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, police officers in Coweta County, Georgia, recently received word of a man having stolen a Honda Accord. They soon located the driver and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but it first seemed like the driver, Joshua Ricky Hobgood, 34, was going to comply. However, this didn’t happen as he sped away in the stolen sedan.

Naturally, the police officers continued trying to make the traffic stop, which meant a high-speed chase involving the car theft suspect. Sadly, things grew more tense as the driver increased his speed and, at some points, reached 100 miles per hour. Additionally, the report says that he even passed cars in the emergency lane as he attempted to get away. The officers attempted a pit maneuver, but it didn’t succeed in stopping Joshua.

Eventually, the chase ended, and the police arrested the 34-year-old driver. Now, he’s facing several charges, which include—but are not limited to—fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer, speeding, reckless driving, and theft by receiving stolen property. As mentioned, he’s lucky he didn’t cause any car wrecks.
