A California gas station is attempting to make things right after accidentally receiving a delivery of diesel in the gas storage tanks. They’re also offering massive discounts in an effort to make up for the accident.

California gas station accidentally mixes up gas and diesel

If you recently got gas at the Rolling Hills Travel Center in California, then you might have put diesel in your tank by accident.

However, this action wasn’t your fault. It may have happened to hundreds of drivers as the gas station. It received a shipment of diesel in its gas tanks instead of the diesel tanks.

The mix-up occurred on Monday evening February 17th. If anyone got unleaded or mid-grade fuel on Monday between 7:40 and 9:30 PM, you may have pumped diesel into your tank. Also, you need to call the Rolling Hills Casino’s Security Dispatch line at 530-528-3529.

Owners of the Travel Center are proactively attempting to contact drivers who could be affected. It’s checking surveillance footage and transaction records from around that time.

As of Tuesday morning, the tanks have been drained and cleaned. The fuel filters were replaced, and all of the lines and hoses were flushed.

According to KRCR TV, there will be a .50 cent discount on every gallon of gas purchased on Thursday, February 20th. Hopefully, that will regain the trust of drivers.

If you accidentally put gas in a diesel-powered car it can cost between $200 to $1,200 to fully repair. It’s unclear if the Travel Center is covering repair costs.
