Sometimes, the best thing you can do is let the police handle certain situations. If a gas station clerk from Texas waited for the cops to arrive during a robbery, then he might still have his thumb. Instead, it was severed by a car door as the thief drove off.

Texas gas station clerk loses thumb during robbery

A 63-year-old gas station clerk took matters into his own hands to stop a thief but ended up losing his thumb. The incident occurred around 1:30 PM at the Shell gas station near Lopp 410 and Vance Jackson.

The San Antonio Police Department shared that the man grabbed beer and chips and attempted to leave without paying.

Then the clerk followed him to his car, which looked like a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee. The thief slammed the clerk’s thumb in the car door and sped off, severing it.

According to Fox San Antonio, police officers need your help finding the suspect. Apparently, the clerk was blinded by pain because they didn’t have a clear description of the thief.

Blurry security cameras show images of a fit, tan man wearing a black hat, sunglasses, a sleeveless shirt, jeans, and boots. He has black hair and a goatee. But the rest is a mystery.

It’s unclear if the victim’s thumb was recovered or reattached. It could have fallen on the ground beside the Jeep, or it might still be inside the SUV!

Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at (210) 244-STOP. You can provide information anonymously.
