The 2022 Kia Rio is a popular sedan, but many customers right now might want something bigger than a subcompact car like the Rio. That’s why Kia offers a version of the Rio called the 5-Door, and it’s a larger hatchback version of the affordable Rio. Here’s how much a fully loaded 2022 Kia Rio 5-Door will cost.

According to Car and Driver, there are three trims Kia offers on the Rio, but the Rio 5-Door has one trim. The standard Rio has the LX trim as a sedan with a starting MSRP of about $17,000. Kia offers a higher trim for the Rio called the S, with a starting MSRP of about $18,000.

Folks who are interested in the Rio 5-Door only get one trim option: the S trim. Since the hatchback version of the S trim is larger than the sedan, it’ll cost a bit more. Car and Driver wrote that the 5-Door S trim would start at about $18,250, and this is roughly $300 more expensive than the S trim for the sedan version of the car.

Here’s what’s available in the 2022 Kia Rio 5-Door S trim

According to Car and Driver, the 5-Door S trim adds many interior features to the Rio, though it won’t change much about what’s under the hood. This trim of the Rio will get new features like cruise control, keyless entry, and split-folding rear seats. The 5-Door S trim gets more cargo space than the regular sedan version. It gets 17 cu-ft. of cargo capacity without folding its seats down and 33 cu-ft. if its seats are folded down.

The Rio 5-Door S trim has a 1.6-liter I4 engine that gets 120 hp and 112 lb-ft of torque. Kia only offers a CVT with this engine. As a result, the 5-Door S trim isn’t a fast car but it will be very fuel-efficient. This Kia takes 8.6 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph, but it gets about 39 mpg overall.

This Kia hatchback has an 8.0-inch touch screen display as standard in terms of tech. It’s also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, Kia doesn’t offer many standard safety features, even on the S trim. According to Kia, plenty of smart safety features are available as add-ons.

Kia offers a few options and packages for the 2022 Kia Rio

According to Kia, the big upgrade only available for the S trim of the Rio is the Technology Package. This package costs $1,800 and adds a lot of smart safety features, such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, and more. The Technology Package will also add a lot of convenience and comfort features, such as push-button start, satellite radio, and a 4.2-inch digital gauge cluster display.

Kia also offers a cargo net, mudguards, or wheel locks. A cargo net will cost $50, mudguards will cost $115, and wheel locks will be $60. If someone is interested in adding all of those options and packages to their 5-Door S trim, then a fully-loaded Rio 5-Door will cost just under $21,000. It’s a great option for those looking for a bit more room at a great price point.
