Another 458,000 Fords Recalled for a Mixed Bag of Build Quality Issues
Halfway through 2025, Ford broke the record for the number of recalls in a single year, with 90 in just six months. As the year draws to a close, the automaker has now issued 131 recalls. In the final week of October, the Blue Oval announced four separate recalls affecting more than 458,000 vehicles. All are tied to physical build quality issues. Here are the latest makes and models affected:
- 2017–2019 Ford Flex SUVs
- 2021–2023 Ford Bronco SUVs
- 2025–2026 Ford Explorer SUVs
- 2025–2026 Lincoln Aviator SUVs
- 2025–2026 Lincoln Corsair SUVs
- 2021–2022 Lincoln Navigator SUVs
- 2021–2022 Ford Expedition SUVs
- 2021–2023 Ford F-150 trucks
- 2022 Ford Super Duty [F-250, F-350, and F-450] trucks
Even in a year filled with huge Ford recalls, this is one of the biggest weeks yet. What’s unique about this batch is that all four involve physical manufacturing issues—not software.
One reason for the high recall count stems from an NHTSA audit in fall 2024. The agency ordered Ford to verify that all required software updates from the previous three years had actually been installed. As a result, many early 2025 recalls were re-issues of prior software fixes.
The latest recalls, broken down
In the first of this latest round, Ford recalled 64,900 Flex SUVs because exterior trim on the “B-pillar”—between the front and rear doors—can fly off while driving. Dealers will inspect and replace loose trim. (Ford recall 25SB8)
Ford is also recalling 163,200 recent Bronco SUVs for a potentially loose seat bolt. The “height-adjust pivot bolt” may not hold the seat securely during a crash. Dealers will inspect and tighten the bolt. (Ford recall 25SB5)
A third recall affects 57,000 vehicles—including the Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and Lincoln Corsair. The issue? Air bubbles in the windshield glass, which may limit visibility. Dealer technicians will replace affected windshields free of charge. (Ford recall 25C60)
Finally, the fourth recall affects 174,800 vehicles: F-150 trucks, Super Duty trucks, Ford Expeditions, and Lincoln Navigators. This one also involves loose exterior trim—specifically, moonroof deflectors that may detach while driving. (Ford recall 25SB7)
