We saw what happened to Kia and Hyundai owners after the “Kia Boyz” trend that took over TikTok over the last two years. After hundreds of thousands of Kia and Hyundai vehicles were stolen, several owners took to the media to tell the story of how their insurance company dropped them or raised their premiums to insane amounts.

Ford is scared of the same thing happening to F-Series truck owners, as it announces an initiative that would pay drivers of some F-150 and SuperDuty models (Lightning customers excluded, sadly) $2,500 if it’s stolen despite an inclusion of the automaker’s Security Package, reports Road & Track.

However, that’s only after it’s stolen and recovered despite the upcoming Stolen Vehicle Services division Ford is developing. As part of the division, a 24/7 support line will be implemented, as well as tampering and theft alerts through the FordPass app.

Fleet owners can employ a “Start Inhibit” feature that can disable fleet vehicles through the app, too, if it senses someone is trying to use a key to combat key mirroring.

Pay attention, Ford truck owners

If you own a 2024 or 2025 model-year truck and it was stolen after February 3, the company says it will offer insurance deductible reimbursements in 40 U.S. states and Washington D.C. Sorry, Canadians.

In order to be eligible, you have to have proof of a connectivity plan with the automaker, as well as the FordPass app with the notifications active.

This comes at a great time for customers, as Ford has recently been making headlines as one of the most frequently targeted vehicles by thieves and burglars, thanks to a current lack of security features and wide availability.

Recently, the SuperDuty trucks have been sought out for their LED and technology-laden taillights, which are easily stolen by lowering the tailgate and high black market value (we’re talking thousands of dollars here).
