Ford quietly repeat recalls 64,000 vehicles for botched fixes
You know it’s bad when a fix needs fixing. Ford just announced repeat recalls on 64,000 vehicles—again—for the same problems they already claimed to repair. Backup cameras, software bugs, windows that bite your fingers. These Fords are basically glitchy iPads with tailpipes. And Ford? They’re in full damage control mode—again.
Ford repeat recall nightmare hits Bronco, Super Duty and Maverick owners
The glitch parade includes the 2021–2024 Bronco Sport and 2022–2023 Maverick. Ford first recalled these rides under campaign 24V-267. The goal? Stop cars from randomly losing drive power. That’s a decent goal. But the software update didn’t stick. So Ford circled back with repeat recalls.
“Certain vehicles may have received an incorrect software update,” Ford admitted. That led to “a loss of 12-volt power and a stall,” per the NHTSA report.
Also in the Ford repeat recall loop: nine 2023 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks. The problem? Their front windows might not stop for your fingers. The window fix from campaign 23V-507 didn’t take. Now Ford’s trying again under recall 24V-293. According to Ford, the previous update “did not detect an obstruction near the top edge of the window.” Small batch, big ouch.
Ford repeat recall stems from broken dealer software tools
Ford blames the repeat recalls on bad tech. Specifically, its update tool didn’t check if software really installed. “The dealer tool did not give detailed information about individual computer modules,” a Ford rep told CarBuzz. So some fixes never actually fixed anything.
Ford’s now “conducting an audit of earlier recalls,” which already triggered at least 18 new ones. That’s led to an absurd 24 recalls in the first 12 weeks of 2025. The company claims it’s working on better software tools, but owners still have to make another trip to the dealer.
And for the 12,833 Maverick and Bronco Sport drivers caught in this, it’s déjà vu with a side of “Seriously?” Ford says it’s working on improving its tools and audit systems. But for Ford owners stuck in repeat recall purgatory, that’s cold comfort.
