Ford recalls 150k vehicles in one week
2025 has already been a banner year for Ford recalls. The automaker made the commendable decision to double-check software was installed correctly during previous recalls. The result was a series of repeat recalls–in addition to the regular slate of recalls of more recent vehicles. Just 12 weeks into 2025, Ford had issued 24 recalls. It looks like Q2 will be no different. In the second weeks of April, Ford recalled another 149,434 vehicle.s
- 2017-18 Ford F-150s, Expeditions, and Lincoln Navigators with leaking brake fluid
- 2025 Ford Explorers for shifting to “park” while driving
- 2024-25 Ford Rangers and Lincoln Nautili for faulty electric windows
Ford trucks and SUVs recalled for leaking brake fluid
The big headline in Ford recalls last week was for the full-size truck/SUV chassis. That includes 2017-2018 Ford F-150s, Expeditions, and Lincoln Navigators. The problem? A loss of front wheel brakes. And with the front wheels responsible for about 80% of a big vehicle’s braking, that’s a serious problem.
Brakes are operated by a hydraulic system. That means when you hit your brake pedal, it presses a plunger through a cylinder of fluid, and that fluid runs through metal brake lines to activate the brakes at each wheel. Ford’s concerned of that fluid leaking out of the cylinder that activates the front brakes. Ford is recalling 123,611 vehicles to inspect them and replace any leaking brake components.
Brand new Ford Explorers recalled over activating transmission “park” gear
Ford is also recalling 24,655 of its 2025 Explorer SUVs. These brand new vehicles may suffer a powertrain control module software issue that makes the PCM computer reset while you’re driving. What’s the big deal? Well, the reset could trigger the transmission’s “park” gear. Ford isn’t worried about Explorers skidding to a stop on the highway. Instead, it’s warning drivers that the parking system could be critically damaged and not hold the vehicle still when you’re counting on it.
Ford Ranger and Lincoln Nautilus recalled over electric window malfunction
Finally, Ford is recalling 2024 Ford Rangers and Lincoln Nautilus SUVs over a “driver door module” malfunction. These windows are engineered to reverse direction if you stick a finger or other object in the way. But it looks like the computer chip that controls them is malfunctioning and this safety feature isn’t working as it should. This is one of the smaller recalls last week, affecting 895 Rangers and 273 Nautili.
