The Ford F-150 Lightning marks the first all-electric truck from the Ford brand. Based on the popular F-Series truck, this pickup has been met with great fanfare. Although, apparently there have been some issues with this EV. Recently, Ford was forced to recall almost 2,900 units of the Lightning truck. And that is unfortunate for such a new vehicle. Now, no pickup is going to be perfect, and recalls are fixed by the manufacturer. So, what exactly is going on with Ford’s EV truck?

Does the 2022 F-150 Lightning have recalls?

Apparently, the Ford Lightning has a recall due to its tire pressure monitoring system. This system is extremely important for ensuring your truck has the right amount of air in its tires. Although the F-150 Lightning does not require owners to fill up at the pump because it is an EV truck, owners still need to worry about things like tire pressure. This is why this recall is important.

Ford has stated that it will issue an over-the-air update for this problem within the next 30 days. But, owners can still visit the dealership in order to have the fix performed. The idea of an OTA update is pretty exciting though. Problems like this can be corrected without ever having to visit a service center, and that shows just how far the automotive industry has come.

2,886 2022 F-150 Lightning trucks are facing recalls. According to CNET, 2,666 of these recalled trucks are in the United States, and the rest are in Canada. Only pickups with 20- and 22-inch all-season tires are currently affected. So if that is not your truck, you probably do not have the issue.

Is the F-150 Lightning a truck?

The Ford F-150 Lightning marks Ford’s entrance into the EV truck segment. Although this pickup is based on the standard F-150, it utilizes an electric powertrain to offer legitimate capability and EV efficiency. Although this truck has already been hit by a recall, that is fairly typical for a vehicle to experience. So it does not mean that the Lightning will not be a quality pickup.

Ford says the Lightning should be able to tow up to 10,000 lbs and haul up to 2,000 lbs, which should be enough utility for most uses. Plus this electric pickup truck offers a range of up to 320 miles. And that could mean the Ford F-150 Lightning could win over rural shoppers who may be skeptical of an electric vehicle.
