It’s an interesting time to be a Ford fan. The Blue Oval is producing two of the most exciting new electric vehicles on the market. Apparently, this is just the beginning of Ford’s electric endeavors.

Ford Motors has decided to split its company into two separate divisions. Ford Blue is the division of internal combustion engine vehicles. The Ford Model E division is for new electric vehicles. The Blue Oval is dedicating an entire division to the development and sale of electric vehicles. EVs will occupy a much larger percentage of the total vehicle market share one day. Automakers need to prepare to produce popular electric nameplates and models, or they could be crushed by the competition.

Ford saw the demand for new electric vehicles and quickly developed electric spin-offs of two of its most popular nameplates. Today, the Blue Oval has introduced the Ford F-150 Lightning and Ford Mustang Mach-E into its lineups. These two electric vehicles will lead Ford Model E into the future. The Mach-E and F-150 Lightning are likely to become incredibly popular in the next few years.

The move to split the company into two may seem drastic to some consumers. It could seem even riskier to those unsure about the place of electric vehicles in the automotive industry. The automotive industry will be heavily impacted by the emergence of new EVs in the next few years.

Ford Model E is the brand’s chance to claim a permanent stake in the electric future by creating popular EV nameplates. The more popular electric vehicles Ford creates, the more staying power it has as the industry evolves.

Electric Ford vehicles have a long way to go before they compete with gas-powered Ford vehicles. The F-150 Lightning has plenty of reservations, The Mach-E has earned the respect of many consumers. That being said, neither nameplate can currently compete with the popularity of models like the gas-powered F-150.

The Blue Oval could phase out all of its internal combustion engine vehicles one day, but that’s a topic for another decade. It is very unlikely that Ford will get rid of gas-powered vehicles completely anytime soon.

The automotive industry is dynamic. Things change quickly, and EVs could become dominant in the blink of an eye. Even so, Ford fans shouldn’t give up on their favorite gas-powered models just yet.

It’s still too early to speak on the reliability of Ford EVs, but these vehicles are bringing excitement, practicality, and value to their respective vehicle segments. According to InsideEVs, two F-150 Lightning trims are sold out, so clearly, the EVs are catching on.
