The Ford Maverick struggles against its first sales decrease
Did we reach peak Ford Maverick? Back in 2022 people lost their minds over this affordable tiny truck. But prices have continued to increase. It just experienced its first sales decrease, so I’m exploring what could have caused it.
The Ford Maverick faces its first sales dip
The Ford Maverick released with explosive energy as drivers rushed to order the hybrid model for $19,995. The tiny truck was extremely affordable for a brief period. Now the 2025 Hybrid model starts with an MSRP of $26,995.
That’s a $7,000 increase before the destination fee, taxes, and dealership fees come into play. At that point are drivers considering getting a larger truck?
In the fourth quarter of 2024, the Maverick sold 22,146 models. In the same time period during 2023, it sold 27,628 trucks. According to Ford Authority, this is a 19.84% sales decrease. Also, it’s a difference of 5,482.
This seems like a small amount on paper. But as sales decreased in America, they also dropped in Mexico and Argentina.
Many factors could be to blame, including uncertainty around Trump tariffs, supply chain issues, rising inflation, and increasing prices.
However, the 2025 Ford Maverick is rocking a mid-cycle refresh with a much more attractive look. The hybrid powertrain can be paired with AWD for the first time, too.
So, sales may have dipped as the factories prepare to build the updated models. Plus, drivers could be waiting for the new trucks to arrive. Only time will tell, so I’ll keep stalking it.
