Ford is one of the nation’s most popular automakers. Unfortunately, Ford just recently announced a disappointing recall that is affecting many drivers. The door latches are at the root of the recall that is causing so much distress and blunder.

A discrepancy in the door latch design is causing some vehicles difficulty in securely latching their doors shut. Even if the door appears to be safely latched, there is a possibility that it may become unlatched while on the road. This issue can be linked back to damage as a result of being subjected to high temperatures. Ford drivers everywhere are frustrated and upset with the unpleasant news.

What models are affected by Ford’s recall?

Ford owners everywhere are wondering about the specifics of the recent recall. There are three different sedans that are unfortunately affected by this recall. The 2014-2015 Ford Fiesta, the 2014-2016 Lincoln MKZ, and the 2014-2016 Ford Fusion all have taken a hit. Nearly 250,000 cars in the United States will be forced to address this unexpected issue as well as an additional 20,000 vehicles in Mexico.

Alabama, Oregon, South Carolina, and Texas are just a few of the states with registered vehicles that have been affected. This disheartening revelation is causing Ford owners to take action. Fortunately, there does seem to be a plan in place. Find out what drivers and owners can do today.

Where can drivers go to see if their model is affected?

Automakers are expected to notify drivers if their vehicles are affected by this recall by May 4th. However, many drivers may be wanting answers now. Luckily for them, they do not have to wait. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has created this amazing resource for drivers everywhere.

The process is very simple. The platform allows drivers to enter a specific Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to easily identify if that particular car is associated with any type of recalls. There does to be a simple fix that allows dealers to switch out the door latch with one that is durable and reliable in high temperatures. This straightforward solution is definitely one silver lining to the whole recall debacle.

Ford owners should be sure to use the tool provided by the NHTSA if they are unsure if their vehicle has been compromised. In addition, drivers can always check-in with their auto dealers for any additional questions and concerns. Nonetheless, Ford fans and drivers are glad that the recall was caught and addressed in a prompt and efficient manner.

Consumers looking into any of these vehicles will definitely want to take this information into consideration. Hopefully, this issue will be resolved for Ford owners in no time.
