Ford Fans Have Some Strong Opinions on the Mustang Mach-E

The all-electric 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is expected to hit the market by Spring 2021. Fans of the Ford product line are excited to see all this performance crossover SUV has to offer. From the innovative features to the ramped-up horsepower and torque, this car promises to be a favorite among electric vehicle drivers. As interest grows on the release of this new Mustang, fans were quick to make their opinions known online about the upcoming new 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Ford fans had a lot to say about the 2021 Mustang Mach-E

An Engadget.com article was recently posted on Reddit saying, “Ford may over-deliver on the Mustang Mach-E’s power and torque.” Commenters had a lot to say about this, with more than 500 comments pouring in from fans of the Ford Mustang. They seemed to have some strong opinions about the upcoming model of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E.

The increased horsepower

The new version of the Mustang Mach-E will have increased acceleration and be able to hit higher speeds than previous models. Autoblog got a hold of some leaked dealer training slides and was able to document the increase in both horsepower and torque capabilities.

The specs for the rear-wheel-drive model reveal an impressive 266 hp, which is considerably higher than last year’s model that hit 255 hp on a good day. The torque is also reported to give off more power, increasing to 317 lb-ft. The all-wheel-drive model that offers extended range capabilities comes in at 346 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque. These are impressive numbers for an all-electric vehicle.

Will it over-deliver?

The training slides obtained from Autoblog reveal that the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E may over-deliver with more speed and acceleration than was previously reported. The top performance models of this vehicle will go from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds.

Reddit users weren’t interested in talking torque and horsepower capabilities. Everyone seemed to be worried about the name of the car and not its actual performance.

Consumers insist the Mach-E is not a Mustang

Multiple commenters on this Reddit thread insist that the Mach-E is not a Mustang. Several people were excited about the prospect of an all-electric Ford product but are confused as to why the Mustang name has to be attached. One person commented, “It could’ve been just Mach E and been fine.” Some referred to it as a “mom mobile” and didn’t get why this crossover SUV was carrying the well-respected Mustang name.

One Reddit user seemed to sum up what everyone was feeling. He stated, “It’s only a matter of time before the real Mustang is released with the same powertrain but in a real coupe body.”

It seems Ford may have missed the mark with the naming of this product. They certainly are taking a lot of heat for throwing the Mustang name into the mix for this performance crossover SUV. A Reddit user quoted Caroll Shelby by saying, “If it’s a good car, the name won’t matter.” The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E shows every indication of being a great car, so just maybe, in the end, the name truly won’t matter. One Reddit user suggested, “Could we just agree to call it the Mach E?”

Where the 2021 Mustang Mach-E stands in production

The release of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E will most likely be delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic that is pushing back production schedules. With an MSRP of $43,895, the Mach-E was slated to become available by Spring 2021. Autoblog reached out to Ford asking if they had an estimated date for the release of this highly anticipated vehicle. The Ford Global EV Communications liaison responded by saying, “not at the moment.”
