Ford F-150 driver with road rage tries to run over bicyclist [Video]
We’ve all been there. It’s a lovely Sunday morning, and you’re out for a spirited drive. You turn a corner and, seemingly inevitably, there they are: a column of bicyclists. We share the road. It’s the right thing to do for the safety and sanity of everyone on our streets. Some folks, however, just can’t handle it. Like the driver of this red Ford F-150 and his wild case of road rage.
Road rage took hold of this Ford F-150 driver as he tried to use his truck as a weapon against a bicyclist
Do you want to start a heated debate? Bring up road cycling in mixed company. You’ll almost certainly get a tirade of anger from both car-criticizing cyclists and bicycle-hating motorists. However, those feelings are best left as just that. Thoughts and words. Not violence. Especially not using a hulking Ford F-150 to run a bicycle rider off the road.
A dash cam video captured the harrowing moments when a driver with road rage attempted to do just that. The red, full-size pickup truck darts around the camera car. At that point, it’s unclear just who the truck’s driver is targeting. However, it soon became clear as the F-150 closes with a bicyclist in full road cycling attire.
At first, the truck driver just seemed to be harassing the cyclist, keeping pace with him. However, things took a turn for the ugly when the truck swerved in front of the bicyclist, forcing the rider to make evasive maneuvers. Things got really dicey when the cyclist attempted to take a right as the truck continued to torment him.
He pedaled his way around a guardrail. Just then, the truck turned in harder, nearly pinning the rider against the barrier. That wasn’t the end of it, either; the truck driver continued badgering the cyclist by swerving back and forth ahead of him. Mercifully, the bicyclist slipped by a red light and escaped after a thorough dose of road rage.
Now, bicyclists have to understand the risks of riding around traffic. They don’t have the power to get and stay clear of heavy, fast-moving vehicles. But that in no way makes it okay for drivers with road rage to pick on them. Fragile egos don’t belong on public roads. Take a deep breath and carry on, people.
