The Ford F-150 Finally Reclaimed Its Crown From the Ram 1500

There is finally some redemption for the Ford F-150 against the Ram 1500. For years, the Ram 1500 has topped the charts as the best full-size truck to buy. However, the 2023 Ford F-150 must be doing something special, because it climbed back to the top.

The results are in, and U.S.News officially ranks the 2023 Ford F-150 as the best truck you can buy. However, the 2023 Ram 1500 has the same score, so we needed a tiebreaker. Edmunds weighed in and ranked the F-150 slightly higher.

The 2023 F-150 has a score of 8.5 out of 10, and the 2023 Ram earned an 8.4 out of 10. That’s a small difference but an important one. Now the F-150 is on the same level after years of trying to catch up.

Critics rank the F-150 highly for having diverse powertrain options, user-friendly tech, a pleasing interior quality, and stout towing and payload figures. But it’s slightly less refined than the Ram 1500.

The Ram 1500 brings the heat with a spacious upscale cabin, robust fuel-efficient engines, intuitive tech, and a well-balanced ride with responsive handling. However, it doesn’t have a lot of standard features.

Does the 2023 F-150 or Ram have a better performance?

There is a 2023 Ford F-150 model for everyone. The F-150 Rattler is an affordable off-roading truck, while the Tremor is well-equipped to tackle the wild. The Platinum trim is loaded with luxury.

Plus, hybrid and electric powertrains are available. But you can throw fuel economy concerns out the window and race with the supercharged F-150 Raptor R.

The 2023 Ram 1500 has fewer options, but the Ram Rebel is still an excellent off-roading model to consider. The Limited trim provides unmatched luxury comfort, and technically the Ram 1500 TRX has more power.

With the F-150 Hybrid, you can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.7 seconds. The F-150 is agile and feels smaller than it actually is, with confident brakes. The steering is direct, and this truck feels well-planted.

You can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.1 seconds in the Ram 1500. This truck provides steady steering, confident breaks, and secure handling. Plus, it has a coil-spring rear suspension.

Is the F-150 or Ram 1500 stronger?

The 2023 Ford F-150 can tow up to 14,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 2,238 lbs. The 2023 Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,750 lbs and carry a payload of up to 2,335 lbs.

Both trucks have multi-function tailgates. The F-150s can be used to measure and cut wood. The Ram’s opens like a swing gate to help make loading cargo easier.

But the 2023 F-150 has a significant advantage with the Pro Power OnBoard Generator that can power worksites and even your home. The Ram 1500 advantage includes built-in storage solutions such as lockable boxes on each side of the tailgate.
