It’s time to investigate rumors about the Ford Escape. Some say the Escape is going to be discontinued after 2023. However, the 2023 Ford Escape could receive attractive updates to help it tackle popular rivals like the Hyundai Tucson.

Is the Ford Escape being discontinued?

Maybe, some rumors suggest that the Ford Escape could be on the chopping block, like the Ford Edge. Both SUVs could be replaced by a new three-row Ford Escape model that won’t be available in the United States.

We know that the Ford Edge was expected to be remodeled for 2023. It would have a new look and ride on a new platform.

However, the next-generation Edge was canceled. The Edge is built in the Oakville plant, but it will be remodeled to focus on building five new electric vehicles.

The three-row Escape will ride on a larger platform with a longer wheelbase. But we don’t see why it would impact the two-row version if it doesn’t come to America.

Currently, the Escape is sharing parts with other options like the Ford Maverick and Ford Bronco Sport. Its components are still popular, so it seems easy to keep pumping Escape models out. However, maybe the Maverick and Bronco Sport need the parts more.

What to expect with the 2023 Escape

The 2023 Ford Escape features a mid-cycle refresh with a new face. The headlights are more prominent, the grille has a unique shape, and the front bumper is more prominent. The new Ford Escape has a blockier and more aggressive look and could match the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

This is an exciting update because the current Escape looks a little bland with curved edges. It just doesn’t draw the eye like the Hyundai Tucson or Toyota RAV4. Its rear end could feature a new taillight design and a larger bumper too.

Based on spy shots, the Escape could have a new dashboard design too. The interior is heavily covered by camouflage, making it difficult to determine specific details. However, we reviewed the Escape. The interior was a little bland.

The new Ford Escape will benefit from a new layout with modern updates such as a larger infotainment screen. The Escape features a 4.2-inch radio display and an 8.0-inch touchscreen. The system works quickly, but it looks dated.

How much power will the new Escape have?

We haven’t heard any rumors about the powertrain options for the 2023 Ford Escape yet. The standard turbocharged 1.3-liter three-cylinder engine provides 181 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque.

With the Escape Hybrid, you get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with an electric motor to pump out 200 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque. The Ford Escape PHEV features a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and 14.4-kWh battery for 220 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque.

Last but not least, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine pumps out an impressive 250 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque.

That’s a pretty diverse engine lineup. The Escape doesn’t exactly need new options yet. Also, the Escape doesn’t seem to be discontinued yet. It has a lot of new plans for 2023, but maybe it will bite the dust if it can’t catch rivals.
