Ford’s car lineup is limited to the Ford Mustang for 2023, but the used car market still has plenty of Blue Oval options. Moreover, the Ford Fusion offered hybrid trims as fuel-saving alternatives to more conventional options like the SE. Even though the Fusion isn’t in production anymore, the Ford car is one of the most popular used hybrids on the market.

The Fusion Hybrid is the second most popular used hybrid, according to iSeeCars. The Fusion model scored right behind the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and just ahead of the venerable Toyota Prius.

However, iSeeCars’ findings revealed that the Fusion dropped from first place in 2021 when it outranked the RAV4 Hybrid. Still, the used car sales figures look a bit dismal compared to pickup trucks. For instance, the RAV4 and Fusion accounted for just 0.3% and 0.2% of total used car sales in the United States, respectively. However, the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado accounted for about 3.3% and 2.8% of total used car sales.

Still, even with underwhelming sales percentages, the Ford car’s percentage earned it the second spot in the used hybrid segment. However, it’s unlikely that the Fusion will hold onto its position; the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Highlander Hybrid rose two and five spots in one year, respectively.

Why was the Ford Fusion Hybrid discontinued?

Ford discontinued the Fusion Hybrid after the 2020 model year. The discontinuation is attributable to the automaker’s shifting priorities, namely SUVs, trucks, and future alternative energy models.

However, TrueCar says Ford has offered a Fusion Hybrid since 2010, so the used market has plenty of preowned options to peruse.

Is a Ford Fusion Hybrid worth it?

A used Ford Fusion Hybrid is a smart buy for fans who want to save money on gas and get some lifespan out of their car. For instance, in iSeeCars’ lifespan study, the Fusion Hybrid scored eighth place among popular hybrid models, with around 175,670 miles of potential lifespan.

However, that isn’t an indication of the maximum potential lifespan of the used Ford car. Instead, it represents average odometer readings for 1% of high mileage examples. A Fusion Hybrid should last well over 200,000 miles with proper care and maintenance.

How many MPG does a Ford Fusion Hybrid get?

The last model year of the Ford Fusion Hybrid, the 2020 model, gets around 43 mpg city and 41 highway. The Ford car packs a hybrid 2.0L inline-four-cylinder mill with about 188 horsepower to accomplish its fuel economy figures.

That puts the Fusion model on par with the RAV4 Hybrid, which gets around 41 mpg city and 38 highway.

What car models does Ford make?

Unfortunately, Ford discontinued the Fusion, so the Mustang is the only car the Blue Oval produces. However, used Ford cars provide a solid option for potential owners who want a sedan instead of a large vehicle.
