Today we have a battle of the boxy SUVs. In one corner, we have the Jeep Renegade that’s been around since 2015. In the other corner, we have the Ford Bronco Sport, a new SUV contender. But the Ford Bronco Sport has three advantages to consider.

The 2022 Ford Bronco Sport vs. the 2022 Jeep Renegade

The 2022 Ford Bronco Sport has a few advantages over the 2022 Jeep Renegade, but one of them isn’t pricing. You can get started in a new Renegade for about $22,495. The Bronco Sport starts at about $27,265.

This creates about a $5,000 difference between the base models before destination fees and dealership markups have been added. However, this might not be too bad because the Bronco Sport may have more value with its price.

3 Bronco Sport advantages

One of the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport advantages includes size. Both SUVs are smaller boxy options, but you might fit better in the Bronco Sport.

The 2022 Jeep Renegade offers up to 18.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and up to 50.8 cubes total. In the Bronco Sport, you get up to 32.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats with up to 65.2 cubes total.

You may notice that the Bronco Sport has a larger trunk area and a higher roof, creating more space for passengers and cargo. But both SUVs have been noted for having a tight second row with limited knee room.

The second advantage involves power. The 2022 Renegade comes standard with a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine and 175 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.7 seconds.

This is an average amount of power that’s fine for passing people and merging on the highway, but a little more juice would make this ride a lot more fun.

With the Bronco Sport, you get a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 181 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque. You can also upgrade to the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine for 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. With the more powerful engine, the Bronco Sport can reach 60 mph in about 6.5 seconds

And last but not least, the Ford Bronco Sport may have a more modern feeling than the Jeep Renegade. The Bronco Sport offers a front-facing camera, wireless phone charger, 400-watt power inverter, LED lights inside of the tailgate, and more.

How else do the Renegade and Bronco Sport compare?

Both the 2022 Jeep Renegade and 2022 Ford Bronco Sport have a bit of a stiff ride. This is due to their off-roading suspension. They serve as excellent off-roaders, and the Bronco Sport even won the Rebelle Rally.

The Renegade and Sport have both been noted for having a bit of wind noise at higher speeds, probably due to their boxy shapes. They both have durable materials that make cleaning out mud easy.

The Renegade offers a 7.0-inch and an 8.4-inch touchscreen, while the Bronco Sport has an 8.0-inch unit. Both SUVs come with Apple CarPlay and Andorid Auto. Standard safety features include automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning.

While the Jeep Renegade has plenty to offer, including a lower price, the Ford Bronco Sport provides more space, power, and a more modern feel.
