Someone at an online Bronco Forum has somehow obtained information that alleges the date for the beginning of the Ford Bronco’s production. The leak also suggests that target dates are hinting that consumers may see some of the SUVs on dealer lots toward the very beginning of Summer.
Teased for years
The return of the Ford Bronco has been teased for years. When it came time for the reveal, reservations were opened, but sadly, delivery dates for the first units were unknown. Since then, the global health crisis has continued to alter production lines for all manufacturers and their suppliers. A shut down at one plant or another has meant delays, or at least finding workarounds. So, alternate vendor relationships have been set up over the last year to make sure production for all products can continue without hiccups industrywide. With that said, new product launches have seen delays during the pandemic. The Bronco is one of those new and delayed products.
Ford Bronco date for production start
There is hope, however, that the Ford Bronco might appear in early Summer. Posted to the Bronco6G forum is a thread that lists milestone target dates. The most eye-catching date is the beginning of production. A while back, production was slated to start on March 22, 2021. However, news made its way out saying that the date might get pushed back into Summer sometime. Not as vague, thankfully, the newest post at the forum is a little more forthcoming.
In what looks like information that is often given to dealers in advance of receiving new product, the dates laid out are as follows.
- Initial order acceptance is 1/19/2021
- Scheduling begins 3/18/2021
- Production start-up begins 5/3/2021
Broncos should begin arriving on dealer lots a month later if true
There it is. The Ford Bronco production will allegedly begin May 3, 2021. That means that dealership lots will possibly begin seeing the arrivals of the legendary SUV as quickly as a month later, depending on transportation concerns. If this holds true, then keys to new Broncos will begin to arrive in consumer’s hands before the official start of Summer, June 20, 2021.
What we do know for sure is that the Ford Bronco will return for 2021. It will have retro styling with new technology throughout, such as driver and safety assist systems. The SUV will be available with two and four doors. It’s top is removable. The off-road vehicle’s motivation will initially be available from two powerplants, a four-cylinder and a six-cylinder. Only the four-cylinder application will be able to have the standard transmission. However, a 10-speed automatic is available for both.
Further down the Bronco path
What we can speculate about the future of the Bronco is that it will not be long before a hybrid or electric powerplant makes its way to the SUV. Manufacturers are making that move globally. So, it is only a matter of time before that happens for the offroader. Also expected is a serious performance version, something akin to the Raptor and F-150 relationship. A timeframe for that, however, is totally unknown. Speculation suggests that version of the Bronco will be called the Warthog. Then again, that name has also been speculated to be applied to the off-road performance version of the soon coming Ford Maverick pickup. In either case, its appearance is too far out to gauge.
