When Ford announced that it would be reviving the iconic Bronco, it was met with great fanfare. The Bronco had long been an off-road SUV before being discontinued, and the idea of a new Ford Bronco was an exciting prospect. For 2022, there are minimal changes to the current-gen Bronco. It is still a competent off-roader with rugged looks to match. But, can the Ford Bronco and Ford Bronco Sport be a family SUV?

Can the 2022 Ford Bronco handle family life?

If you have a growing family, you likely want an SUV to help everyone get around. And depending on its configuration, the Bronco can do a decent enough job at hauling a family. That said, according to Cars.com, the two-door version of this Ford SUV should likely be overlooked if you are dealing with things like car seats.

The two-door Bronco tested by the publication made it fairly difficult to get various car seats in. Now, this vehicle does have a full LATCH system for getting child safety seats in, and this system is labeled well. Additionally, the Bronco was able to accommodate a booster seat.

Where the struggles came in with this test vehicle was its two-door configuration. Having only two doors can make it difficult to situate child safety seats, even if there is room in the rear for them. Because of that, it is likely best to explore the four-door 2022 Bronco.

Is the Ford Bronco Sport a good family car?

Recognized by some as the ‘Baby Bronco,’ the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport is still a capable SUV that can handle a family. When compared to the full Bronco, the Bronco Sport is designed for daily use and some weekend adventuring.

Inside, the Bronco Sport feels roomy. This is likely due in part to its design. Unlike other crossovers that have a sloping roof, the 2022 Bronco Sport actually has a roof that rises in the room. This gives it more headspace and makes it easier to situate child safety seats in the back.

Additionally, this Ford vehicle comes with a variety of safety tech and driver assistance features. This should add to your overall confidence in selecting the Bronco Sport to be your family SUV.

Is the Ford Bronco a family car?

In terms of family life, the 2022 Bronco certainly excels over competitors like the Jeep Wrangler. With four doors, it has a spacious interior and offers the features needed to help with child safety seats. While the Bronco Sport is likely enough for most needs, some parents still want a legitimate off-roader. And that is what the 2022 Ford Bronco is.

Although the two-door Bronco is a cool SUV, the lack of four doors reduces its practicality. Especially if you need to get kids in and out of the rear seats. Because of that, opting for the four-door model is likely the right call. Of course, the best way to determine which vehicle should be your next purchase is to test drive the options that are out there.
