What Is the Ford Bronco Everglades?
Since its reintroduction, the Ford Bronco has been an immensely popular SUV. And there are no shortage of trims and special editions to help make this vehicle stand out from the crowd. One of these trims is the 2022 Ford Bronco Everglades, an off-road SUV that has a number of upgrades over the standard Bronco. So, what is the Bronco Everglades, how much does it cost, and why exactly is it so special?
How much does the Bronco Everglades cost?
The 2022 Ford Bronco Everglades has a starting MSRP of $53,000. But, as you add various options, it can climb well over that price. In comparison, the base model of this SUV has a starting cost of $31,300. So, the Everglades model is nearly $20k more expensive.
That said, you do get a number of upgrades that might make the price of the Everglades package worth it. These include things like a factory-installed snorkel and even Bilstein shock absorbers for added capability. Plus, it can seat up to five passengers.
What is the Bronco Everglades?
If you plan on doing some serious off-roading, the Bronco Everglades is the answer. Its snorkel system will allow you to ford up to 36.4 inches of water. Although you will need to option on 35-inch tires in order to get that fording depth. Additionally, this off-road SUV boasts electronic-locking front and rear axles, which is the mark of a seriously capable vehicle.
Unfortunately, you cannot get the Bronco Everglades with what might be this model’s coolest feature, a seven-speed manual transmission. Ford is only offering this model with the 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. The only engine option for the Everglades model is the 2.3-liter EcoBoost with 300 horsepower.
If you want a two-door Bronco, you will also need to look elsewhere. The Everglades trim is limited to four-door Broncos. And that might be a bit of a disappointment to some. But Ford does include a factory-installed lift with this model. It has a 100-foot synthetic line, and according to Car and Driver, it can pull up to 10,000 lbs. A winch can come in handy if you find yourself stuck while off-roading.
Should you buy a 2022 Ford Bronco Everglades?
Due to high demand, the 2022 Ford Bronco is no longer available for order. So, if you are interested in one, you will have to find it at a dealership or get lucky on the used market. Both of the options will likely lead you to needing to pay a markup on the MSRP.
The Bronco Everglades is positioned between the Wildrak and Bronco Raptor. And, it has not been confirmed if it will be returning for the 2023 model year. Because of that, if you weren’t lucky to purchase one already, you might be out of luck. Whether it returns or not, the Everglades model is certainly a cool SUV. And it is nice that Ford went to the lengths to make it as good as it is.
