Florida Man Arrested for Throwing Rocks at Police Cars–20 Minutes After Release From Jail
Maybe Kevin Berrios missed being in jail. This Florida man couldn’t have masterminded a faster way to get thrown back inside.
From release to rearrest in 20 minutes
On Sunday, Berrios walked free from the Brevard County Jail Complex. What did he do with his newfound freedom? He crossed the street to the Brevard County Sheriff’s motor pool, picked up a rock from a flower bed, and hurled it at a police patrol car. He managed to smash the glass in the process.
Not content with the damage, Berrios grabbed another rock and shattered the window of a patrol SUV. The rampage was caught on camera, but no one had stopped him yet—and he was still free. It seems Berrios couldn’t stand that.
Then he saw movement. A deputy had arrived at the jail to drop off another inmate. As soon as the car was unloaded, Berrios threw another rock—right in plain sight of the deputy. The deputy immediately arrested him and brought him right back inside for rebooking. This time, Berrios is being held without bail.
Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said, “Here’s a guy who’s given his freedom back, and before the ink’s even dry on his release paperwork, he’s already committing more crimes — against law enforcement, no less.”
Berrios reportedly has multiple prior arrests for property-related offenses and public disturbances. He caused an estimated $3,700 in damage to the sheriff’s fleet. The Sheriff posted the story on Facebook, expressing frustration at the “revolving door” of repeat offenders.
