Shane Brown of Bartow, Florida just doesn’t know when to quit. What could have been a simple warning left him homeless and with a slew of charges.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports it got a domestic violence call at 4 PM on a Thursday. When the police show up, it’s a good time to stop and reevaluate. But deputies arrived at the camper trailer where Shane Brown lives and found him still trying to hit a woman with a metal pole. He was yelling “I’m going to beat your a–!”

When the police officers approached Brown, he disappeared into his trailer. This would have been a good time to face the music, but Brown refused to come out. In fact, he escalated the situation.

Brown began throwing things around inside the trailer, including a five-gallon propane tank. Then he set the entire camper on fire.

At this point, deputies entered the camper to grab Brown and drag him somewhere safe. This would have been a good time to go with the deputies and live to tantrum another day. But not Brown. When the deputies entered the camper, he began punching their K-9 unit. Officers say he hit their dog at least four times while they tried to hold him down and handcuff him. His list of charges is so long it deserves bullet points:

  • Domestic violence battery with a prior conviction
  • Domestic violence aggravated assault
  • Resisting arrest without violence
  • Aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer
  • Arson
  • Battery on a police canine
  • Resisting an officer with violence

When Polk County reported the story, they were actually able to use a recent mugshot of Brown from a previous arrest. Real shocker there.
