What the heck is that Baby Jeep? Is it a Jeep Renegade or Compass? Is it a Fiat with a Jeep badge? Actually, it’s the 2023 Electric Jeep. We’re still waiting to learn the official name of the new Jeep EV, and we only have a few clues to go on. 

The 2023 Electric Jeep is on the way 

Surprise, Stellantis dropped another shocking model in our laps. The 2023 Electric Jeep officially made an appearance, but that’s pretty much it. Stellantis didn’t release the name of the Jeep EV or official specs. 

According to CNET, we only have two images to feast our eyes upon. We can confirm that this is a new model smaller than the Jeep Renegade. We’ve been hearing about a new baby Jeep for months, and this could be it. 

Overall the new EV has the classic egg shape of a Fiat. Only it looks a little flattened. It seems a little shorter and longer. Also, the front has a seven-slight grill with thing LED headlights like the Jeep Cherokee. 

Meanwhile, the rear end features taillights with the Jeep Renegade X. The body has chiseled, confident lines around the bumpers for a confident stance. Rugged cladding around the bumpers and wheel wells complete the look. 

What to expect with the Jeep EV 

The 2023 Electric Jeep is puzzling so far. It has four doors but only has door handles in the front. We aren’t sure how many passengers or how much cargo space it has yet. But the compact option might not be for us. 

The Baby Jeep will launch in Europe during the first half of 2023. However, it’s unclear if this model will make it to the United States, where we like our passenger and cargo space. Why is Stellantis hurting us again? 

We would love to have the new Jeep EV, Jeep Renegade 4xe, and Jeep Compass 4xe in America. But Stellantis plans to have 100 percent of sales consist of electric vehicles by 2026. 

The electrification goal in the United States isn’t that aggressive. That’s why we have the Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Jeep Cherokee 4xe with part-time electrification. Jeep plans to have an EV in every segment by 2025. 

How much power does the Baby Jeep have? 

All we can do is speculate about the 2023 Electric Jeep at the moment. It’s rumored to share a platform with several other B-SUV models from other Stellantis brands such as Peugeot 2008, DS 3 Crossback, and Opel Mokka. The Jeep EV is about 4.1 meters long. 

The models mentioned above each have an electric model, and they only offer front-wheel drive. It seems wrong to provide a Jeep without 4×4, but Stellantis might be modifying the architecture to include all-wheel drive. 

With the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense, you get a 50-kWh battery that provides a 200-mile range. It pumps out 134 hp and 194 lb-ft of torque. These figures aren’t exactly exciting. The Jeep Renegade 4xe provides up to 240 hp and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.1 seconds. 

We know that the Jeep Renegade is due for a facelift, so maybe the Renegade 4xe will arrive in America by the end of 2023. Also, we will keep an eye on the new Jeep EV to see if it will come across the pond.
