It’s time to test one massive beast known as the Ford Expedition. This three-row SUV has been the top option for years, and we get a week with it to learn why. It feels a lot different than the Ford F-150. In fact, for being so massive, the 2022 Ford Expedition is pretty convenient.

Is the 2022 Ford Expedition worth buying?

Yes, if you’re looking for a solid three-row vehicle that’s comfortable, easy to maneuver, and spacious, then the 2022 Ford Expedition checks off tons of boxes. Best of all, its size doesn’t impact its ride quality very much.

We have the Ford Expedition Limited 4×4 model this week, which adds luxurious features such as a hands-free liftgate, heated seats in the second row, optional captain’s chairs, full-speed adaptive cruise control, and built-in navigation.

Plus, our model is equipped with the Stealth Performance package. It includes the upgraded 3.5-liter twin-turbo engine, 22-inch black wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, dual exhaust, red brake calipers, dark exterior trim, power deployable running boards, a surround-view camera system, park assist, and a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system

Because the Expedition has a 9.8-inch ground clearance, we’re thankful for the running boards. Also, the surround-view camera provides tons of visibility to simplify navigating through tight areas.

How does the 2022 Expedition perform?

The 2022 Ford Expedition Stealth Performance package comes with the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that cranks out 440 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. According to Car and Driver, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.1 seconds.

The acceleration has a slight delay but provides plenty of power for merging into traffic and passing others on the highway. The automatic start and stop feature works incredibly smoothly. The engine starts back up quickly and smoothly.

Perhaps were spoiled but the unique sport-tuned suspension and the independent setup in the rear, but the ride is super smooth. Most impacts are absorbed without any fuss, and we will see how it performs while off-roading.

The tires provide a sense of confidence with a connection to the road. However, the steering could be more responsive. The brakes are smooth, and the Expedition only feels hefty around sharp bends.

The acoustic laminated windshield and active noise cancellation system keep wind and road noise at bay. Plus, the Expedition has a 20.5 turning radius, which is excellent. It’s agile and easy to park.

Does the 2022 Expedition have nice features?

The 2022 Ford Expedition has a well-crafted interior with high-quality materials. The plush leather upholstery is well-passed and supportive. Each row provides plenty of space and comfort for adults.

We’re fans of the 15.5-inch infotainment screen that’s also found in the Ford F-150 and Ford Mustang Mach-E. It’s vibrant and easy to use. The system makes good use of its space, and we don’t mind the lack of physical controls.

The second and third rows automatically fold flat with a touch of a button. Also, the hands-free liftgate is pretty convenient. The rear hatch is wide, with an average lift-over height for loading bulky items.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto eliminate the need for phone cords. Plus, the wireless phone charging pad is within reach.

The Expedition makes a great first impression, but it’s not perfect. For example, the climate control system is pretty loud. Stay tuned for more updates as we learn more about the Expedition.
