Sorry folks, if you live in Massachusetts, some of your packages might be stranded in a flood. A FedEx truck was left stranded on a flooded causeway. The driver was rescued as tide waters began to rise, creating a dangerous life-or-death situation. 

FedEx truck gets abandoned during flood 

A FedEx truck was left to drown near Lieutenant Island Bridge in Wellfleet, Massachusetts. The driver got trapped in rising floodwaters as high tide approached. 

He was on the pavement as the truck became partially submerged. Then the water kept getting deeper, flooding the vehicle. The incident occurred during an 11.4-foot tide that covered the roadway. 

Luckily, the Wellfleet Fire Department was able to quickly launch a rescue. The team got a call for help less than 45 minutes before high tide around 11:33 am on Sunday.  

They retrieved the driver and pulled him to safety by approaching the truck with a boat. Two firefighters pulled the driver to safety. He didn’t experience any injuries.  

However, the truck was left stranded until the tide receded. It was probably totaled as it was almost completely submerged. Hundreds of packages were soaked. A UPS truck actually saw the FedEx truck get stuck and turned around. 

According to the Weather Channel, this area is known for dangerous flooding twice a day. This incident serves as a reminder that the predictable forces along the Massachusetts coastline are extremely dangerous. 

The fire department urged drivers to exercise extreme caution on Lieutenant Island Road, especially around high tide. It shared that rising rides can create hazardous conditions and pose significant risks to motorists.
