[Video] FedEx driver rushes to save packages as his truck bursts into flames in Colorado parking lot
One second, he was delivering packages. The next, he was running from a truck fire. A FedEx driver pulled into the parking lot of the Town Center at Aurora mall, thinking he had time. His truck was smoking, but he’d get it figured out. He jumped out and popped the hood. That’s when things got worse.
Flames. Thick, black smoke. And they were spreading fast.
The driver tried to save as many packages as he could. But the heat was too intense. He had no choice—he had to back off. Moments later, the truck was gone.
“That driver had pulled into the lot… after noticing there was smoke coming out of the truck,” NBC Channel 9 News reported. Then, “Moments later, the truck burst into flames.” The fire spread so fast, firefighters arrived to find it completely engulfed.
Aurora Fire Rescue doused the wreck with water and foam. They had to push through the smoke to reach the source of the blaze. It started under the hood, likely a mechanical failure, Fox 31 News confirmed. By then, the front half of the truck was completely destroyed.
During a car or truck fire, seconds matter
“A delivery driver managed to get out of harm’s way before the truck he was driving caught fire,” NBC Channel 9 News reported. But what if he’d hesitated? A few seconds can be the difference between a close call and catastrophe.
If your car starts smoking, don’t wait. Pull over. Get out. Move at least 100 feet away. FEMA warns that vehicle fires can spread in moments, turning a stalled car into a death trap.
If you’ve got time, turn off the engine and pop the hood from inside. But don’t open it yourself—introducing oxygen can turn a small fire into an inferno. And most importantly? Don’t go back for anything. Not your bags, not your phone, and definitely not the packages. Because no delivery is worth your life.
