The Ford Mustang Mach-E is quick, but what about its charging time? How fast does the Blue Oval’s exciting new electric SUV charge?

How fast does the Mach-E charge?

According to MotorTrend, a Ford Mustang Mach-E with a standard range battery takes 38 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% using a 150-kilowatt EV charger. A Mach-E equipped with a long range battery takes about 45 minutes to charge the same amount. The Mach-E has fast charging capability, but what about consumers who may not have access to a 150-kilowatt EV charger?

The Blue Oval provides a free portable charger with every Mach-E purchase. When the Ford Mobile Charger is attached to a 120-volt power outlet, the vehicle gains roughly three miles of range per charging hour. This means that the Mach-E would get a measly 30-miles of range after 10 hours of charging with the 120-volt attachment.

When equipped with the 240-volt Ford Mobile Charger outlet attachment, the Mach-E gets 20 miles of range replenished per charging hour. It would take about 8.7 hours to charge the Mach-E from 10% to 80% of its total battery capacity using the 240-volt attachment.

It’s evident that charging with a 120-volt outlet and attachment won’t be practical for most consumers. The average Mach-E driver will likely resort to charging the electric SUV overnight using the 240-volt attachment. Charging the battery from 10% to 80% is the equivalent of the time it takes for a good night’s sleep with the 240-volt attachment equipped.

How do you find somewhere to charge the Ford Mustang Mach-E?

If you can’t make it home fast enough to charge the Mach-E, don’t fret. Ford is combatting range anxiety by providing a system that finds public charging stations for Mach-E occupants. The search can be limited and tailored to the specific type of charging experience you are searching for, whether it be fast-charging or FordPass charging.

Electric vehicle charging infrastructure in America is far from what it needs to be. While we may not have as many EV chargers around as we need, companies like Volkswagen’s Electrify America are working hard to provide plenty of charging stations for EV users. Automakers like Ford are also establishing their own charging stations and creating brand-exclusive experiences through their charging networks.

Charging the Ford Mustang Mach-E may not be simple at first, but rest assured, there’s plenty of information and support available for new EV owners. Range anxiety is still very real, but the base model Mach-E Select has 247 miles of driving range. That’s much more driving range than electric vehicles that have come out in previous years.

Range anxiety and how automakers plan to deal with it are important to consumers, but Mach-E fans are also looking for something else in their electric SUV. The Blue Oval ensured that the Mustang Mach-E would live up to the “Mustang” name by giving the EV engaging driving dynamics.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E Select goes from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.2 seconds. The GT trim takes just 3.5 seconds to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour. Ford’s electric SUV is incredibly quick. Its charging speed, however, is average compared to rivals.
