According to critics, the 2022 Chevy Tahoe is one of the top-ranked full-size SUVs. It’s a safe, capable model with some innovative features. For most people, buying the Chevrolet SUV or a competitor from Ford or Toyota seems like the perfect option. However, any version of the 2022 Chevy Tahoe is an excellent option. In fact, experts disagree on the best Chevy Tahoe trim. There are too many fantastic options to choose just one. Should you buy an LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, or High Country?

According to Edmunds, the most popular version of the Tahoe is the LT trim. Starting roughly $5,000 higher than the base model LS at $56,795, it’s a surprisingly well-equipped option. As the most popular Tahoe, it’s clear that consumers think it’s the best version of the vehicle. However, not every expert believes most customers purchase the best trim for the Chevrolet full-size SUV.

Edmunds loves the Tahoe RST trim

Moving up one spot from the most popular Tahoe to the RST is where Edmunds recommends customers stay. For $$59,995, the publication recommends buying this midtier model for a few reasons.

“The base Chevrolet Tahoe comes with a generous assortment of standard features, but your options really open up when you choose the RST trim. That model gets a unique exterior and special seats, and it’s also the cheapest Tahoe you can get with the potent 6.2-liter V8 and Magnetic Ride Control adaptive suspension,” Edmunds said.

Building on the features included with lower trims, the Tahoe RST gains even more. For example, 22-inch wheels, a unique front fascia, black exterior trim, and special RST seats with contrast stitching. Adding this to the other amenities like a Bose audio system, heated front seats, a wireless charging pad, a hands-free liftgate, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and much more make this Tahoe trim an excellent choice.

Another expert disagrees with buyers and Edmunds

Buying the best version of the 2022 Chevy Tahoe is a challenging task. Sometimes, critics agree with one another and the many buyers who purchase the same trim level. However, Car and Driver agree with neither. C/D says the best Tahoe trim to buy is the Z71 model. Starting at $61,995, this trim is one spot higher than Edmunds’ favorite RST but adds off-road capability.

The publication says it prefers the Z71 or RST models but recommends the Z71 for a few different reasons. It has four-wheel drive, a rugged appearance, and exclusive off-roading equipment. In addition, buyers can upgrade from the standard 5.3-liter V8 to a 6.2-liter V8, upping the horsepower by 65 and torque by 77 lb-ft. Finally, C/D recommends adding the Z71 Signature package. Included are blind-spot monitoring, a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, memory settings, a panoramic roof, a power-folding third row, and upgraded towing equipment.

What is the best 2022 Chevy Tahoe trim?

Regarding the 2022 Chevy Tahoe, we agree with the consumers. Although the RST and Z71 models are enticing, most of their features are unnecessary. For example, black exterior trim, contrast-stitched seats, and even off-road features. Although they’re nice to have, most people buying a Tahoe require a family vehicle, not a serious off-roader. Paying so much extra money for these features seems silly when the 2022 Chevy Tahoe LT is available. It’s well-equipped, and for those who want more, plenty of extras are available through optional packages for less than the higher trims cost.
