2 Excellent 2022 Full-Size Luxury SUVs That Consumer Reports Predicts Owners Will Love

When Consumer Reports evaluates a new ride, sometimes the car-buying public doesn’t necessarily agree with the scores and ratings. After all, people have different experiences with their cars. However, regarding predicting ownership satisfaction, Consumer Reports’ methods tend to be reasonably accurate with many of the models it reviews.

So, before you buy a new luxury SUV, you’ll want to look at the two contenders at the top of the predicted ownership list. These two full-size luxury SUVs take the cake, earning official head nods from Consumer Reports and existing vehicle owners, meaning you’re sure to love everything they offer.

Why you should appreciate the predicted owner satisfaction scores

There is no shortage of industry critic reviews of every new or used vehicle you could ever want to research. For the most part, you know to take those scores and ranks with a grain of salt. But there is one vehicle evaluation you should always consider, especially if you’re looking into buying a luxury SUV.

Consumer Reports sends out surveys yearly to existing new-car owners, asking for feedback about their experiences, not only when driving the vehicle but also in ownership, maintenance, and costs. So, when those responses align with the Consumer Reports overall ratings, it’s an on-point assessment you can take to the bank.

The Consumer Reports owner satisfaction category is one of many evaluation points the team uses to generate overall scores. But those particular rankings are rooted in actual responses from specific vehicle owners sharing their sentiments.

The Consumer Reports surveys ask luxury SUV owners questions about various aspects of ownership. They request owners to comment on their impressions concerning driving experiences, comfort, value, and styling. The most influential question in the survey people look at when buying a new car is, “would you buy this car again?”

1. Check out the 2022 BMW X7 is an agreeable choice for a full-size luxury SUV

BMW’s new X7 is its biggest SUV in the lineup, primed to take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLS and the Audi Q7. Consumer Reports says, unlike many of the others in this segment, the BMW X7 is “worth every penny” of its $84,000 price tag.

It earns applause for driving like you’d expect from a BMW, with its 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. The Consumer Reports team also loves all the posh extras and upscale fit and finish.

What may carry more weight with your luxury SUV buying decision are the responses from BMW X7 owners. Nearly 80% of those surveyed said they would repurchase this top performer.

2. 2022 Lincoln Navigator is a great full-size luxury SUV

Before you buy, you’ll want to look at the second luxury SUV in this predicted ownership hierarchy. The 2022 Lincoln Navigator makes a big impression on the Consumer Reports team in a big way. Consumer Reports describes it as a “behemoth,” capable of seating eight passengers and full of all the extras you’d expect with a Lincoln.

It has a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 that generates 411 hp when you fill up with regular fuel. Opting for the premium pump will generate up to 450 hp. Of all the luxury SUVs in this segment, the Lincoln Navigator came in second, with just under 75% of owners sharing they’d definitely buy this SUV again.

Industry reviews can have varying opinions making it tough to decide which luxury SUV to buy. But when you venture over to Consumer Reports, you’ll see the critics and vehicle owners agree on two models. The sleek 2022 BMW X7 and the larger-than-life 2022 Lincoln Navigator rank high among consumers and Consumer Reports. And it’s a good sign that if you buy either of these upscale contenders, you’ll more than likely love your new ride.
