If you walk into a Jaguar dealership today looking to buy a brand-new car, you are going to be met with a bizarre reality: the British automaker currently has exactly zero new vehicles for sale.
In one of the most drastic rebranding efforts in automotive history, Jaguar has completely sunsetted production of its entire lineup – both gas and electric. The company has cleared the stage for a hyper-luxury, electric-only future. But to make room for that future, Jaguar had to put a bullet in several highly anticipated, fully developed cars.
Here is a look at the secret models Jaguar sacrificed, the brand’s radical new direction, and the massive gamble it is taking to rebuild its legacy.
The Cars Left on the Cutting Room Floor

We now know exactly what Jaguar gave up to pursue its EV-only dream, thanks to recent revelations from ex-Jaguar Director of Design Ian Callum. Speaking on the Road to Success podcast, Callum – who left the brand in 2019 – confirmed that Jaguar had four next-generation vehicles actively in the works before executives pulled the plug.
According to Callum, these four vehicles “were all on the cards, they were all being done”:
- A Next-Generation XJ: The brand’s flagship luxury sedan was actively being developed as an EV. Callum noted that the car was “nearly finished” before the project was abruptly halted so the brand could start over from scratch.
- A Redesigned F-Pace: This is arguably the most shocking cancellation. The F-Pace was Jaguar’s undisputed best-seller, yet development on a second-generation model was scrapped entirely.
- A Smaller XF Sedan: Jaguar was preparing a third-generation XF to go toe-to-toe with the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Audi A6.
- An All-New F-Type: The beloved, snarling sports coupe was slated to get a true successor before falling victim to the brand’s sweeping pivot.

The Type 00: Chasing Bentley, Not BMW
Instead of fighting it out in the crowded premium segment against Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar is moving more upmarket. The goal is to transform into an ultra-exclusive, low-volume hyper-luxury brand that targets the likes of Bentley and Porsche.
The cornerstone of this rebirth is previewed by the Type 00, a radically styled, dramatically proportioned electric grand tourer concept that debuted to heavy controversy in late 2024.
Here is what we know about the upcoming production model so far:
- Performance: The four-door GT is expected to feature a tri-motor setup producing over 1,000 horsepower, complete with torque vectoring and rear-wheel steering.
- Range & Platform: Built on the bespoke Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), it targets a 400+ mile range and utilizes an 800-volt system for ultra-fast charging.
- Pricing & Timeline: It will carry a six-figure price tag (well over $100,000). The final production design will be unveiled in the summer of 2026, with order books opening in the fall and the first deliveries expected in early 2027. A luxury SUV will follow shortly after.

A Big Gamble for Jaguar
While competitors like Ford, Mercedes-Benz, and even Aston Martin are walking back their strict EV timelines to reintroduce hybrids, Jaguar is refusing to blink. Just recently, company insiders publicly slammed rumors of a last-minute hybrid powertrain for the new GT as “rubbish,” doubling down on their pure-electric pledge.
It is an incredibly high-stakes gamble. Jaguar executives have already admitted they expect to lose roughly 85 percent of their existing customer base with this upmarket pivot. The anxiety is already spilling over into the retail network; in an anonymous interview with the German publication Automobilwoche, one dealer bluntly stated that there is currently “no business case for the brand.”
Jaguar is essentially burning its own house down to build a mansion on the ashes. Whether the market is willing to pay Bentley prices for a radical electric Jaguar remains the ultimate hundred-million-dollar question.
