The Nissan LEAF works hard to distinguish itself in the electric vehicles (EV) category by offering a cheap alternative to pricier EVs. On top of that, the LEAF offers a practical hatchback construction, which means more usable cargo volume. However, it lacks electric range compared to several other EVs on the market. Here are some comparable electric vehicles with longer ranges than the 2022 Nissan LEAF.

How many miles will a Nissan LEAF do on a full charge?

A 2022 Nissan LEAF has a maximum range of 226 miles when shoppers opt for the PLUS models. However, the base models are a bit of a letdown in terms of electric range. With their 110 kW electric motors and 150-mile electric range, the market is stuffed with EVs that will sail right past a Nissan LEAF.

Is the Nissan LEAF better than the Chevrolet Bolt EV?

The Chevrolet Bolt EV is the closest electric car on this list to the Nissan LEAF in terms of cost. A 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV has a starting price of $32,495, while a Nissan LEAF demands a starting price of $28,495. However, the Bolt EV offers a pretty big advantage over the Nissan. The Bolt EV has a range of 259 miles, much more than the lowest trim Nissans. Even the PLUS models can’t compete with the Bolt EV’s range.

Does the Ford Mustang Mach-E have a longer electric range than the Nissan EV?

Although the Ford Mustang Mach-E is much more expensive than the Nissan LEAF, it also has a much greater range. A base model Mach-E, the Select, has an electric range of 247 miles, nearly 100 miles more than the base model Nissan EV. If you opt for the much more plush SL PLUS, you’ll pay $38,495, much closer to the Mach-E’s starting price. However, you still won’t get as much range as the Ford.

The baby Tesla is a bit of a benchmark in the EV world and has a much longer range than the Nissan LEAF. A 2022 Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus has a range of 263 miles to the PLUS’ 226 miles. However, Standard Range Plus has a starting price of around $48,190, comparable to the Mach-E. Still, if you’re not worried about the monetary difference, a Model 3 Long Range will cover an impressive 358 miles, but it will also cost you nearly $60,000.

A PLUS model is a good purchase if you want an affordable, practical EV with solid electric range figures. However, you might be better off with the longer-range Chevrolet Bolt EV at that price point. According to TrueCar, you can snag a 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV for starting price of around $30,000 and a plusher 2LT model starting at about $35,695. Although if you want outright range, you’d be better off with any of these cars or a Volkswagen ID.4.
