The 2020 BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe offers an exciting option for anyone looking for a flagship luxury sedan with a sporty design. The four-door version of the BMW 8 Series coupe should be the perfect choice for customers looking for all the luxury and prestige of the 7 Series without sacrificing style.

Exterior design

The 2020 8 Series Gran Coupe is taller and wider than its two-door sibling, with an additional 7.9 inches in the wheelbase and 9 inches in overall length. These have increased both headroom and visibility. The sharp modern lines and a less aggressive rake deliver a sleek body and elegant design that bring a sense of presence and authority. The panoramic glass extends from the windshield to the rear window, which should give the cabin a bright and airy feel.

LED headlights, BMW’s signature twin-kidney grille, and functional air intakes add to the aggressive appearance of the sports car, while the aluminum construction reduces weight significantly.

Interior design

The longer wheelbase ensures increased headroom and legroom for both the front and rear seats. Premium leather on the dashboard and door panels as well as decorative stitching add a touch of luxury and class to the interior. Heated front sport seats with integrated headrests offer lateral support for enhanced comfort on both short and long trips. Standard ambient lighting emphasizes the appearance of the interior and creates an exclusive mood.

Power and performance

The 2020 BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe offers two engine options. The 840i and 840i xDrive models will have a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six under the hood that produces 335 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque. BMW says each of the models to accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in a little over 4 seconds. The M850i xDrive version, however, gets a 4.4-liter V8 that puts out 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. The V8’s extra power means the 0 to 60 time should drop to 3.7 seconds.

The V8 engine is paired with a sports exhaust system, giving the big sedan an extra dose of sport. Both engines are paired with a sport-tuned eight-speed automatic transmission that should provide quick shifts without sacrificing driver comfort.

Driver assistance systems

In addition to the stylish design and powerful engine options, the 8 Series Gran Coupe also comes with several driver assistance systems. Front collision warning with city collision mitigation comes as a standard feature, with customers having the option of choosing active blind spot detection, parking assistant, speed limit information, rear cross traffic alert, and a surround-view camera system as added features.

Other features

The 2020 BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe has the latest head-up display that adds additional content and optimized graphics. This makes it easy to see the projected information without diverting eyes from the road. The BMW infotainment and driving system includes the latest version of iDrive, providing better interaction and control options for users. BMW Connected supports intelligent connectivity for easy, stress-free navigation. Drivers can connect to the app from within the car or using their mobile devices to enjoy more convenience.
