Now you can, with the 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid.

While gas-only Toyota Camry models offer different engine options, the 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid only has one (but it’s a good one). Pop the hood, and discover a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery. With all systems combined, this new hybrid delivers an impressive 208 horsepower — so it’s safe to say it has some pep! The Camry XSE Hybrid can hit 60 mph in only 7.4 seconds. So, if you need a hybrid with some pick-up, look no further than this one.

How safe is the 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid?

Safety is always at the forefront with Toyota. As a result, every 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+ (TSS 2.5+), a suite of driver-assist features designed to keep you and your passengers out of harm’s way. This collection of safety features includes:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection – This feature helps avoid impact with another car or pedestrian. If, for some reason, you’re unable to brake, the system will brake for you automatically.
  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control – This cruise control feature is designed for highway driving. Not only can you preset a speed, but you can also set a distance between you and the car in front of you.
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist – If you drift out of your lane (hey, it happens), this feature will give you an audio or visual warning. It also provides gentle corrective steering, if needed.
  • Road Sign Assist – This safety feature will detect stop signs, Do Not Enter signs, and yield signs. You’ll have a clear view of them on the Multi-Information Display (MID).

The 2022 Camry Hybrid received a 5-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA for added peace of mind. Additionally, MotorTrend reports that the 2021 Toyota Camry was a Top Safety Pick+, the highest award from the IIHS.

Take a seat in this inviting new hybrid car

Take a seat inside the Toyota Camry Hybrid, and you will be welcomed by an inviting, well-appointed cabin. Once you’re behind the wheel, you’ll have easy access to steering wheel controls, buttons, and the new car’s infotainment system.

The available 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support and an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat make long road trips more enjoyable. Additionally, you won’t have to fumble through your pocket or purse with the available Smart Key System. Simply lock and unlock the front doors and open the trunk by carrying the Smart Key.

This new hybrid makes the most out of every gallon

The Toyota Camry Hybrid offers excellent fuel economy ratings. While SE, XLE, and XSE trim levels deliver 44 mpg in the city and 47 mpg on the highway, LE trim levels provide an EPA-estimated 51 mpg in the city and 53 mpg on the highway.

Is the 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid AWD?

Unfortunately, the 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid does not come equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD). If you would prefer to drive a Camry with this performance feature, you’ll want to consider the Toyota Camry TRD, which is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 24-Valve DOHC engine.

That said, when it comes down to it, Edmunds notes that if you’re in the market for a Toyota Camry, the hybrid is the one you’ll want to buy unless you need all-wheel drive or the midsize sedan’s available V6 engine.
