Engineering Explained Calls Out YouTube’s “Fake” New Engagement Button

YouTube is constantly rolling out new features for its creators, but not everyone is thrilled about the platform’s increasing push toward automation. The automotive mastermind behind the wildly popular Engineering Explained channel recently took to Instagram to blast a new feature that he says makes creator interaction completely “fake”.

In a recent Instagram Story, the Engineering Explained host shared a screenshot of his YouTube interface, circling a newly added button that simply reads, “Add hearts to all”.

A “Hard Eye Roll” for Automated Authenticity

For automotive creators who spend hours reading and responding to their community’s highly technical questions, a mass-engagement button feels incredibly disingenuous.

“Lol YouTube app has a button to just mass ❤️ all of your comments,” he wrote over the screenshot, adding, “Hard eye roll! 🙄”.

He pointed out that this new mass-like button, combined with the platform’s automated suggested text replies, actively ensures that “creator interaction” on the platform is “fake”.

To reassure his millions of subscribers, the creator made it clear that he refuses to use the automated shortcuts on his main platform.

“FYI – I reply, with my own talentless fingies, to my YouTube comments,” he confirmed.

However, he did offer a hilarious, brutally honest confession about his presence on another major social media app. While his YouTube interactions are 100% authentic, his Facebook audience isn’t exactly getting the same personal touch.

“I do not reply to my Facebook page comments, as it is managed by a third party,” he admitted in the same post.

His reasoning for outsourcing his Facebook management? “IMO FB died a decade ago and I have no interest in opening it. 😂🤷‍♂️”.
