Ford teams up with Ellen to give F-150 Lightning to teacher

Ford and The Ellen Show just gave a teacher from Atlanta, Georgia a new F-150 Lightning. The electric Ford F-150 was a Teacher Appreciation Week gift. Here’s how this lucky teacher left The Ellen Show with a new electric truck.

Ellen is known for pranking celebrities, witty one-liners, and highlighting average folks with incredible stories. If you know a teacher or have had the pleasure of working with children yourself, you know it’s a tough job. Teachers are some of the most underappreciated professionals in America, hence Teacher Appreciation Week.

Yup, there’s an entire week where Americans recognize how teachers contribute to society and give them their props. What’s better than kudos and lots of thank yous? How about a brand new Ford truck? If anyone deserves a new F-150 Lightning pickup, it’s a professional that guides and educates America’s youth.

Michael Bonner is a teacher from Atlanta who had previously been on The Ellen Show because of the amazing work he was doing with his students. Michael writes music as a way to help his students learn and remember concepts taught in class. Ellen collaborated with the teacher to make a music video promoting literacy. The video featured Big Sean, Lin Manuel Miranda, Ice Cube, and The Migos.

Ellen tricked Bonner into thinking he was playing one of the show’s games, then surprised him with the Carbonized Gray Ford F-150 Lightning.

Is the Ford F-150 Lightning available?

The Ford F-150 Lightning is completely sold out. According to Kelley Blue Book, Ford has closed the order books for the electric F-150. Even the final trim level Platinum Lightning is sold out. The new electric pickup truck may not be readily available for an entire year.

Ford is working hard to produce enough electric trucks to meet the demand for its newest EV. After seeing how many Americans eagerly awaited the electric pickup, the company made its Electric Vehicle Center even larger.

The F-150 Lightning’s scarcity makes it an even better Teacher Appreciation Week gift for Michael Bonner. Ford and Ellen have changed the life of one lucky teacher with this amazing gift.

How much will the electric F-150 Lightning cost?

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning starts at $39,974. It’s eligible for a $7,500 federal electric vehicle tax credit (thus far), but the full incentive window is closing. It could cost $32,474 after the tax credit. The XLT trim costs $52,974.
