The Ford Mustang nameplate is one of the most historic muscle car nameplates to exist. When auto enthusiasts learned that the Blue Oval was creating an electric Mustang SUV, many weren’t exactly pleased with the news. This electric SUV has converted many into believers.

Ford acknowledged the huge change for the nameplate and went as far as offering a Ford enthusiast the chance to experience the new Mustang and its differences. Ford allowed a 101-year old English gentleman named Harold Baggott to drive the Mach-E so he could compare it to other Ford and Mustang models.

Harold was pleasantly surprised and marveled at the lack of cabin noise. He was excited for the future of Ford after driving the newest Mustang. Ford knew that to retain the nameplate’s core fan base it had to keep many of its fundamental qualities while still bringing something new to the table. The end result won a best electric vehicle of the year award.

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E starts at $42,895 (or $35,395 after tax incentives). It gets an estimated 230 miles of range. The Mach-E stays true to its heritage because it is able to go from 0-60 miles per hour in just 5.2 seconds. The Mustang Mach-E Premium trim gets 300 miles of range and can go from 0-60 miles per hour in 4.8 seconds. The Mach-E’s trims offer either more range, quicker acceleration, or a combination of both.

Volkswagen’s huge emission scandal besmirched the company’s good name in many ways. As companies like Toyota were actively reducing carbon emissions, Volkswagen was hiding its true emission numbers. The ID.4 is part of a wave of new electric Volkswagen vehicles that are trying to right the company’s wrongs.

According to Consumer Reports, the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 got a 10/10 for its greenhouse gas rating and smog rating. The ID.4 is a great step in the right direction for the German automaker. The ID.4 starts at $39,995 and is eligible for EV tax credits. Its price can start as low as $32,495 after incentives. It gets an estimated 260 miles of range.

Though the Mustang Mach-E is an electric vehicle its specs are far from conventional. Ford has put work into ensuring that the Mach-E is exciting. The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV is the more practical SUV because it is slightly cheaper and provides more range at the base trim level. When it comes to the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E Vs. 2021 Volkswagen ID.4, the 2021 Mustang Mach-E is surely the more exiting electric vehicle.
