The Honda Ridgeline is one of the best midsize pickup trucks of 2022

When Edmunds gathered its best midsize pickup trucks of 2022 and 2023, the 2022 Honda Ridgeline was number one. Honda equipped the Ridgeline with plenty of features to keep owners happy. Edmunds says it is one of the most comfortable trucks on the market right now, especially compared to other midsize pickup trucks. While it can’t tow as much as some of its rivals and isn’t quite as off-road ready, the Ridgeline makes up for it in other ways.

When it comes to the positives of the Honda Ridgeline, Edmunds noted its superior ride and handling. A recently updated independent rear suspension is to thank for that. The Ridgeline also comes with a helpful two-way tailgate with a lockable area in the bed. While the 2022 version hasn’t changed much over the 2021, it comes with more important safety features. Forward collision warning (FCW), lane-departure warning (LDW), and automatic emergency braking (AEB) are all standard. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave this midsize pickup truck a five-star safety rating.

MSRP range: $38,140 – $45,570

Jeep’s Gladiator is another one of the best midsize pickup trucks of 2022

Trucks like the 2022 Jeep Gladiator don’t always perform well on standardized tests like Edmunds might perform. However, the Jeep brand isn’t very interested in fitting into standard boxes or tests. What the 2022 Gladiator gets right is everything else. It’s a practical pickup that can also go off-road. Off-roading and adventuring are what the Jeep Gladiator is into, but you don’t have to do that. It also makes for a perfectly acceptable grocery getter and family truck.

Regarding truck things, the Gladiator has quite a roomy back seat. Experts say it is effortless to like, especially if you have big plans off-road. FCW, BSW, and AEB are only optional on the 2022 Jeep Gladiator. It didn’t receive an overall score from the NHTSA or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Regardless, it came in second on Edmunds’ list of best midsize pickup trucks for 2022.

MSRP range: $37,170 – $54,080

Don’t overlook the best-selling Toyota Tacoma

Why Edmunds chose the 2021 Toyota Tacoma over the 2022 version remains a mystery. However, the 2023 version still has plenty of positive attributes to cement its spot on the list of best trucks. Toyota trucks are known for being reliable and lasting forever, which the 2021 version does not stray from. Also worth noting is that the Tacoma has been the best-selling small pickup truck for 17 years and running.

FCW and LDW are standard, as is AEB. BSW is optional, as is rear cross-traffic warning (RCTW). The IIHS gave the 2021 Tacoma mostly high scores on its tests, as did the NHTSA. When it comes down to it, Edmunds thinks the Tacoma is one of the best-selling trucks for almost two decades for a reason. Reliability and a durable truck come together in the Tacoma, making it one of the best midsize pickup trucks for 2022, even if it is a 2021.

MSRP range: $27,230 – $47,030

This list from Edmunds is a bit eclectic, but so is the midsize truck segment. If you are looking for the best midsize pickup trucks of 2022, hopefully, this list gets you started. Don’t be afraid to expand your search if you aren’t finding any good deals in your area. You might have better luck outside of your immediate area. Plus, new model year vehicles are hitting the dealership every day. If you don’t need the latest option out there, you might be able to find a good deal on an outgoing model.
