Texas man steals Cadillac then takes police SUV
22-year-old Kendral Pickett is the face of two stolen cars during one incident. It all started as police officers spotted a Cadillac driving erratically on I-20 in Grand Prairie. The vehicle was traveling at high speeds without its headlights on.
Pickett eventually decided to ditch the car and run into a wooded area. He was quickly located and apprehended with the help of helicopter and canine units.
Police officers handcuffed Pickett and placed him in the back of an SUV. They waited for an ambulance to arrive to provide treatment for a dog bite.
According to Fox 4 News, Pickett managed to get his handcuffed arms over his legs to the front of his body. Then he jumped into the driver’s seat and took off in the police SUV.
Police officers chased him, weaving through traffic on I-30. Dallas police officers joined the hunt and eventually ended the chase in Oak Cliff by deploying spike strips. Pickett hit the stips and lost control of the SUV, causing it to flip.
Then he was recaptured and taken to a local hospital to treat minor injuries. Pickett was charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of evading arrest, one count of escape while arrested, and assault on a public servant.
I don’t think the K-9 officer that bit him is sorry.
