Drunken Alabama Trucker Parks on I-40 to Pass Out
Have you ever been so drunk that you parked in the middle of the interstate? First of all, that’s pretty dangerous. Secondly, that means you have something in common with a trucker from Alabama who parked his semi-truck on I-40.
Drunk Alabama trucker parks semi-truck on I-40
Police officers in Roane County, Tennessee, were shocked by the negligence and danger caused by a drunk trucker. The truck driver, identified as 48-year-old Effion Gunn Jr of Alabama, was too intoxicated to drive safely.
But that didn’t stop him from operating behind the wheel of his semi-truck until he decided he needed to pass out. Instead of finding a truck stop or safe place to pull over on Interstate 40.
His semi-truck was improperly parked near mile marker 356, east of Kingston, by the exit to Gallaher Road and Oak Ridge.
Police officers shared that a car was heading west on I-40 when it struck the tractor-trailer due to how it was parked. The vehicle rolled and eventually came to a stop in the middle of the road, blocking traffic.
According to The Trucker, the driver was injured during the crash. However, the severity of their injuries is unclear.
When emergency responders and officers arrived, they found Gunn intoxicated. Sadly, the reports don’t list a blood alcohol content. However, he may have been on other drugs as well.
Gunn was charged with DUI, vehicular assault, implied consent, simple possession, paraphernalia, three charges for possessing legend drugs without a prescription, using synthetic urine, and obstructing the roadway.
It sounds like this trucker has been abusing drugs for a while. He had urine in case he needed to pass a drug test! How to get that isn’t everyday knowledge. At least it’s comforting to know that truckers are randomly tested and that this guy will be off the road for a bit.
