Happy wife, happy life, right? Well, this advice could actually help husbands stay alive! All joking aside, as this story mentions the death of a beloved Texan son, father, and husband. His drunk wife only meant to hit him with their SUV, not kill him.

Drunk Texas wife accidentally murders husband with SUV

An argument between a husband and wife quickly got out of hand in Houston, Texas. Witnesses saw 43-year-old Alina Gonzalez-Morelos target her husband with a black Chevrolet Tahoe.

It was around 3:30 am when the SUV jumped a curb to strike the victim as he walked across a parking lot. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Leonardo Mendoza, was left in a parking lot off Red Bluff Road.

Police officers shared that the suspect fled. When emergency responders arrived on scene, Mendoza was still alive but critically injured. He was then taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

Gonzalez-Morelos arrived at the police station the next morning to turn herself in. She was quickly charged with murder as she expressed remorse. According to ABC 13, she shared that she only meant to hit, not kill, her husband.

Officers shared that she admitted to driving home from a party, drunk. Then she and her husband were arguing around 2:30 AM, in front of her kids. The husband left, and she followed him outside.

The argument escalated until she climbed behind the wheel of the SUV. An average Chevy Tahoe weighs between 5,400 – 6,100 lbs. It’s unclear how fast she was driving, but her husband was still hit with a ton of force.

If convicted, Gonzalez-Morelos could face life in prison. Also, police officers are waiting for her toxicology reports to come in.
