Florida man had 5 drinks before running other drivers off the road and driving the wrong way in Groveland
By now, drivers understand the dangers of driving while under the influence. Not only does it cause numerous fatal car wrecks each year, but it also leads to widespread destruction. Recently, a Florida man was found to have allegedly done this after causing complete mayhem on the road. Now, he’s facing a DUI charge and much more following the crime.
Driving under the influence, like all crimes, is entirely avoidable
According to Leesburg-News, police officers were called to U.S. Highway 27 and Independence Boulevard for a person believed to be driving while under the influence. This was around 11:35 p.m., and the call said he was driving the wrong way and running other drivers off the road. Once on the scene, the officers spotted headlights going against the traffic flow and pulled the driver over.
From there, the police officers approached the car, which happened to be a red Toyota. The report says that they could smell alcohol immediately coming from the vehicle. They then asked how many drinks the man behind the wheel had consumed. The man confirmed that he had been driving while under the influence by saying he’d had two. However, he later told them he had five drinks at a friend’s birthday party. As drunk people often do, the man repeated the number of drinks he had to the officers multiple times.
Things continued, and the man who had decided to drive under the influence complied with the police. However, the report says he was unable to stand properly due to his intoxication. He consented to field sobriety testing, which he was unsuccessful at. He later refused to submit to a breath test. Now, he has a DUI charge, and this happens to be his second offense. They set his bond for $2,500, which is on par with what other drunk drivers receive. The good thing is that he didn’t cause any car wrecks.
