Driver Ignores Fire Pouring Out of Car While Driving Through Tunnel in Viral Video

If you spend enough time driving, you will eventually see some questionable vehicle maintenance. From duct-taped bumpers to completely bald tires, the highway is full of rolling safety hazards. But every once in a while, a video surfaces that completely redefines what it means to ignore car trouble.

A recent clip posted to the popular Reddit community r/IdiotsInCars is going viral for capturing what might be the most terrifying, yet oddly hilarious, makeshift headlight in automotive history.

The video, perfectly titled “No bulb, no problem, fire shines brighter,” features a driver casually driving through a tunnel while the entire front-right corner of their car is engulfed in flames.

The Ultimate This Is Fine Moment

In the short, seven-second clip, the person recording is driving alongside a white hatchback in a tunnel. At first glance, you might just think the car has a severely broken headlight assembly. But look closer and you see an active fire pit burning where the headlight used to sit.

Bright orange flames are whipping out of the empty socket, stretching back along the fender. The fire has clearly been burning for a while, too. Part of front quarter panel, bumper, and part of the hood are heavily charred and stained with a thick trail of black soot.

Despite the fact that the front of their vehicle is actively melting, the driver of the white car seems completely unbothered.

Trying to Warn the Oblivious Driver

The person filming the video is understandably panicked by the rolling fire hazard next to them. As they pull up alongside the burning car, they roll down their window and can be heard desperately shouting in Mandarin: “Dage! Che zhao huo le!” which translates to “Brother! The car is on fire!”, as they try to alert the driver to the glowing inferno mere feet from their steering wheel.

Whether the driver couldn’t hear the warnings over the noise of the tunnel, or they simply accepted their fiery fate and decided to push on to their destination, remains a mystery. The video cuts off before we get to see if the driver ever actually pulled over.

A note on this, though. If you’re ever caught in a similar position to this driver, please get to the end of the tunnel before pulling over!

The Internet Reacts

Naturally, the internet had a field day with the sheer absurdity of the clip. The Reddit post quickly racked up over 7,400 upvotes, with commenters marvelling at the driver’s sheer determination to ignore a literal fire.

While it makes for an incredible viral visual, it goes without saying that driving a burning vehicle is a terrible idea. Modern car fires can spread to the fuel lines, electrical systems, or the cabin in a matter of seconds. If you ever look out your window and see flames, do not try to make it home. Pull over safely, get out immediately, and call emergency services.

Until then, this driver will live on in internet infamy as the ultimate example of just pushing through the pain.
