Driver Cheats Death After Jaguar F-Type Convertible Gets Trapped Under Florida School Bus

A shocking incident occurred in Lee County, Florida, when a Jaguar F-Type Convertible crashed into a school bus and became trapped underneath. The driver surprisingly walked away with minor injuries, despite the high-intensity impact that lifted the school bus from behind.

The crash took place at 8:50 a.m. on February 18 on US 41, when the dark blue Jaguar convertible failed to stop in time and wedged itself under the school bus parked in the right lane. Fortunately, the F-Type’s roof was retracted, and there were no children in the bus.

A video of the crash has been uploaded to YouTube, highlighting the strange nature of the incident. It seemed like the F-Type’s driver failed to react in time, especially since he wasn’t driving uncontrollably fast. Furthermore, there was no screeching of the tires from aggressive braking.

Was the driver distracted by a smartphone? That’s a possibility because there was no attempt to switch lanes at the last moment. Or, it could just be a classic case of target fixation. Only the police could reveal more details upon investigation.

Footage revealed the crushed F-Type in a severely damaged condition, proving just how bad the impact was. The two-seater’s passenger side was mangled more because the front-right section of the F-Type struck the bus.

Despite the F-Type disappearing under the bus, the driver’s side of the F-Type was saved from being crushed entirely, which saved the driver. The San Carlos Park Fire Department confirmed that both the bus driver and the F-Type’s driver were treated for minor injuries. An eyewitness told ABC 7 that she gave ice to the driver who had injured a pinky finger.

Another eyewitness stated that he “saw the children walking to the bus, 15 minutes prior to this happening.” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno was thankful there were no children on the bus. He said:

“The safety of our students going to and from school is our top priority. This video is incredibly hard to watch, and I thank God no students were on the bus, and no one was seriously injured. I can ensure our Traffic Unit and 4th Precinct deputies have increased patrols in this area and will not tolerate reckless driving of any kind.”
