The decision to drive while under the influence is indefensible because of the number of fatal car wrecks it causes each year. Sadly, this happened recently in Virginia, and not only does a man have a DUI charge, but a teenager also lost their life in the deadly crash that she didn’t cause. This is just one reason drivers should never drink and drive.

It’s never a good idea to drive while under the influence

According to Fox 5 DC, two drivers were on Pleasant Valley Road in Centreville, Virginia, at around 10:30 pm on February 28th. Apparently, they were on a hilly stretch of the unlit road. A 23-year-old man who had decided to drive while under the influence crossed the center lane and crashed into a Toyota Camry. There just so happened to be a 16-year-old in the Camry. The man was driving a Corolla, and this ended up being a head-on collision.

The 16-year-old girl was trapped inside the car due to the man’s decision to drive while under the influence. EMS arrived at the scene following the crash and then airlifted the teenager to a local hospital. Sadly, the girl later passed away. There were no passengers in either of the two vehicles. Police on the scene were able to indicate that the man had been drinking and driving.

Following his instance of driving while under the influence, the man received a DUI charge, among others. Now, the authorities are holding him without bond. Naturally, they are not releasing the victim’s name due to her age. However, this has undoubtedly left a dramatic impact on her community. Reports say her parents are devastated, as anyone would be after losing a loved one to a drunk driver.
