Sorry, I don’t enjoy being the bearer of bad news. While the idea of a new truck is always exciting, don’t get your hopes up if you hear about a new Hyundai truck. This mid-size option might break your heart.

There is a new Hyundai truck in the works

I wish that I could spread joy about the new Hyundai truck. However, it’s already a massive letdown. It’s not even here yet, and don’t expect to see one in your neighborhood. The new mystery model isn’t being built for America.

Just like the Ram Rampage, Fiat Toro, Kia Tasman, Toyota Hilux, and diesel-powered Ford Ranger, whatever Hyundai is cooking won’t be served in the United States. According to Car Buzz, tariffs are to blame.

The Hyundai pickup is being designed for the Australian market to compete with popular utes like the unsightly Kia Tasman. Despite having a funky style, it’s flying off dealership lots.

It will be developed to battle mid-size body-on-frame trucks like the rugged Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger. Rumors suggest that it will be a rebadged version of the Kia Tasman to save millions.

The new Hyundai truck will have a distinct personality to set it apart from its fraternal twin. It could have a more upscale interior and classic square style.

Engine options will probably start with Kia’s 227-hp 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gas unit and the 207-hp four-cylinder turbodiesel. Plus, Hyundai might be working on hybrid and fully electric variants.

Until then, Americans still get the underrated Hyundai Santa Cruz that isn’t doing as well as the wildly popular Ford Maverick. Plus, Kia is working to deliver an electric mid-size truck for the states.
