Less than one month after his inauguration, President Donald Trump visited the hallowed track at Daytona International Speedway just in time for the Daytona 500. The president hit the track ahead of the racing drivers in the monstrous, $1.5 million limousine: The Beast.

President Donald Trump took to the track in ‘The Beast’ and his motorcade at the Daytona 500

You’ve heard of Air Force One. You’ve likely also heard of Marine One. But have you heard of “The Beast?” It’s essentially a tank with Cadillac badges and the frequent transport for the President of the United States (POTUS). We won’t hold it against you if you want to call it “Cadillac One,” though.

The Beast is the common road-going transportation for POTUS and the nucleus of the presidential motorcade. This weekend, U.S. President Donald Trump took The Beast to Daytona Beach, Florida for the iconic Daytona 500 NASCAR race. What’s more, the newly re-elected POTUS lapped the track aboard The Beast, a presidential first.

Of course, The Beast is far from a taut, light, powerful stock car. As you might imagine, thick run-flat tires, armor plating, weapons, and passengers keep the presidential limo on the heavier side. The $1.5 million might weigh 15,000 or more lbs. Of course, many details about the massive limousine are hush-hush in the interest of protecting the president.

However, the giant size and weight of the Cadillac limousine didn’t stop President Trump and his motorcade from hitting the track. The squad of black Chevrolet pickup trucks and SUVs guided the stretched Caddy as it orbited the Daytona International Speedway ahead of brightly colored racecars. Still, the spectacle didn’t last long. Donald Trump was in Daytona Beach for less than two hours.
